A.      Letak

Desa Kajen terletak di Kelurahan Bangunjiwo, Kecamatan Kasihan, dan Kabupaten Bantul. Lebih tepatnya Desa Kajen ini berada di lingkungan daerah Kasongan yaitu berada di Jl. Bantul km. 6 belok ke kanan masuk ke gapura kasongan. Di Kasongan ini sendiri memiliki banyak desa, dan desa desa tersebut diberi nama berbeda – beda salah satunya Desa Kajen ini. Para tamu dari luar kota sering menyebut beberapa desa yang berada dikasongan dengan sebutan Kasongan juga karena masih dalam satu wilayah.

B.      Fasilitas

1.      Masjid

Didesa Kajen ini kita dapat menemukan beberapa masjid diantaranya yaitu Masjid Kajen dan Masjid Al - Aziz, biasanya di masjid tersebut selain digunakan untuk sholat berjamaah juga digunakan untuk melakukan pengajian (syiar agama). Banyak dari pengujung juga yang mampir untuk sholat maupun beristirahat. Di masjid tersebut setiap hari tertentu juga digunakaan untuk TPA.

2.      Sekolah

Kasongan ini sendiri memiliki tempat untuk bersekolah diantaranya ada TK Aba Aisyiyah dan SD Kasongan. Para murid yang bersekolah di sekolah tersebut tidak hanya anak – anak yang bertempat tinggal di desa ini saja, tetapi juga ada yang dari perumahan dan desa yang lain.

3.      Kerajinan

Banyak wisatawan dari luar kota yang datang ke Kasongan hanya untuk melihat – lihat maupun membeli kerajinannya. Kerajinan yang terkenal di Kasongan yaitu kerajinan yang di buat dari tanah liat.

C.      Keadaan

Keadaan di wilayah Kasongan ini banyak wisatawan yang mengunjungi dan banyak dari beberapa sekolah yang ingin tahu cara membuat kerajinan gerabah. Kebanyakan pekerjaan masyarakat di wilayah Kasongan ini sebagai pengrajin tanah liat. Hasil kerajinan seperti Guci, pernak – pernik dan lain – lain biasanya bisa di ekspor sampai ke luar negri seperti Australia, India, dan lain – lain. Sumber Daya Alam yang ada di Kasongan biasanya dimanfaatkan untuk membuat kerajinan tangan. Contohnya pohon bambu dapat digunakan sebagai kipas.
